PRESS RELEASE

COURT APPOINTED SPECIAL ADVOCATES (CASA)

UPCOMING INFORMATION MEETING

Peoria, IL – The public is invited to attend an information meeting held by CASA of the Tenth Judicial Circuit. Come learn about the volunteer role of a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)!

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of the Tenth Judicial District is a non-profit organization that recruits, trains, and supervises community volunteers, who are appointed by a judge as Officers of the Court to be independent fact finders.  CASA volunteers speak up for the best interests of abused and neglected children; they work with the court system and the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) to ensure that all the necessary information is presented to the court, allowing the judge to make the best decisions in the interest of the child. Volunteers do not need to have a background in child welfare or the legal system. We simply are looking for people who care about children.

Join us Thursday, September 13 from 5:30 – 7:00 pm at the Peoria Heights Village Hall, 4901 N Prospect Rd, Peoria Heights. The need for volunteers is great!  Find out how you can be a voice for one of the over 1,400 abused and neglected children in our area.

For more information, call 309-669-2939 or email casa@peoriacounty.org.

Thank you for your help in spreading the word for those in need and to those who can help!

Waste Disposal Fee

Garbage - News.jpg

On July 17, 2018, the Board of Trustees of the Village of Peoria Heights voted to charge $10/month to residential units receiving waste disposal service through the Village's provider.  The monthly fee will be used to offset the cost of waste disposal services which are paid for by the Village.  The fee will be prorated onto residents' water bills for the months of July - December and will be labeled as WST on the bills.  The fee for those who are registered with the county for the senior freeze property tax exemption will pay a reduced fee of $5/month. If you have any questions, please call 686-2385.
