Upcoming benefit for Heights family in need
A benefit to raise funds to defray medical costs for the wife of a Peoria Heights Public Works employee will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 23 at Pour Bros. Craft Taproom at Heritage Square.
Jenny Bartley is the wife of Jim Bartley, foreman in the Village’s Public Works Department. She was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer, following previous battles with breast and thyroid cancer, none of which were related, said her daughter, Lindsey Faulkner.
The previous two cancers are in remission, said Faulkner. “Pancreatic cancer is a different ballgame.”
She said her mother will be starting chemotherapy to hopefully shrink or at least slow the growth of the tumor, with repeated trips back and forth to MD Anderson Cancer Center in
Houston for treatment, which comes with a cost.
Hence the benefit, which will feature live music and have food and drink available for purchase. There also will be a silent auction and 50-50 drawing.
“We just really appreciate everything that everybody is doing,” said Faulkner.
