Peoria Heights Water Use Survey

The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) requires every water supplier to develop and implement a comprehensive cross connection control program for the elimination of existing cross connections and prevention or protection from all future cross connections. These regulations are in place to protect our drinking water systems.

A requirement of the program is to conduct a survey of all water customers every two years. All Peoria Heights water customers will receive a survey post card in the mail soon, if not already.

Residents/property owners should follow the directions on the post card and complete the online survey shortly after receiving the card.

The contractor hired to implement and oversee Peoria Heights’ program is Aqua Backflow from Elgin, IL. They specialize in cross connection control program management. Note that if there is existing or required backflow protection, property owners may be notified for compliance (installations, testing, or repairs) by Aqua Backflow. Please contact them at info@AquaBackflow.com or 847-742-2296 with any questions.

Peoria Heights’ Cross Connection Control Program is designed to safeguard public health. Peoria Heights Waterworks thanks its residents for their cooperation with the program, its enforcement, and any requests for information that comes from Aqua Backflow or utility staff.

Village Hall Hours & Winter Weather Tips

InfoBadge.png

Due to extremely cold temperatures and for the safety of our employees, Village Hall will be closed on Wednesday, January 30. Emergency services will still be available.

Cold Weather Safety Tips:

  1. Keep a faucet dripping and open cabinets where plumbing is located to help prevent frozen pipes. Know where the interior water shut-off valve is located in case pipes freeze and/or burst. If pipes do freeze, turn off the main shut-off valve and use a hair dryer to thaw them.

  2. Keep the furnace set at a constant temperature slightly higher than usual. Furnaces will struggle to reheat if interior temperatures decrease too much.

  3. If at all possible, do not go outside as frostbite can set in in under 5 minutes. Cover all exposed skin and wear multiple layers. Cover your mouth to protect your lungs from extreme cold.

  4. If travel is necessary, bring an emergency kit with jumper cables, blankets, food, water, a container of sand or kitty litter, phone charger, flashlight, and batteries.
